MEGAN THEE STALLION: 'HISS'

Updated: Aug 15

What's Good Ya'll! When Katt Williams made his appearance on Club Shay Shay and set it off...we all were well aware what this year was going to entail lol. Megan Thee Stallion dropped her latest single HISS and did not hold back! Now this ain't a gossip page nor is this about to be a gossip column if you want to know the lyrics and who she is dissing look it up like everybody else. Now I love Hop-Hop but it ain't really my lane, however, BLACK PEOPLE and more specifically with this article, BLACK WOMEN are my lane.

HISS: Megan Thee Stallion on MTS3*; Produced by: LilJuMadeDaBeat, Bankroll Got It & Shawn “Source” Jarrett

What will forever confuse me and what I truly want to focus on is how a black woman was shot and instead of that being the main focus, gossip, lies and then some became more important than a black woman's well being. In the past few years people in the black community have hopped on the mental health train heavily, but where was this concern for Megan's mental health during this incident? What's even more disgusting is people within our community, both black men and women continue to defend someone who, IF they did not commit the crime, knows who did. How do we as a community witness and endure so much violence and continue to be okay with accepting? At what point do we hold people accountable, especially our black men when it comes to protecting black women. This isn't a gender wars tirade because once again you can take you all your unasked opinions to a search engine and look up what is one of the most leading causes of death to black women and violence by their partners is high on the list. At the end of the day what I care about is the advancement of my people and this entire situation made me feel like we taking ten steps back.

A BLACK WOMAN WAS SHOT, so she turned her pain into music, even though she wanted to quit. And how tragic when you think about it, that someone so talented and accomplished was ready to give it up because we failed to uplift our good sis when she needed it most. I think there's a lot to be said when we do not believe black women, when we dismiss black women and when we punch down on them during their time of need. Being the one group of people who is constantly punched down on by everyone and everything around us, you would just think by now when issues such as this arise, we would no longer dehumanize and victim-blame black women, especially until we know all the facts. I'm tired, why aren't ya'll?
